Meet the Speakers: Samia Dumbuya

Samia Dumbuya is a climate educator, facilitator, and founder of The People’s Ark, empowering marginalised communities in the UK to become active climate changemakers. For over a decade, they’ve led workshops and programmes that make climate and environmental education accessible, helping young people and local groups understand how the climate crisis impacts their lives and our planet.

In recent years, Samia has partnered with 30+ organisations to build holistic, community-led engagement strategies. Their work has now taken them to the global stage , as the UK Youth Delegate for COP29 with the Future Leaders Network, representing young people across the country.

Samia recently completed an MSc in Sustainable Resources: Economics, Policy and Transitions at UCL, where their research explored energy security policies in Sierra Leone.

As a member of Veolia’s Future Generations Council, Samia continues to advocate for circular economies and community-led action, creating space for people to imagine and build climate-just futures for all.

Samia will join in an action focused discussion about ecocide and environmental justice in the UK with Monica Lennon, member of the Scottish parliament, who introduced the ecocide bill earlier this year.
