Presenting the Manual at The Hague Climate Week

We kicked off The Hague Climate Week with an inspiring gathering at The Hague Humanity Hub, featuring documentary photographers Oyewole Lawal and Edwin Ndeke, who shared about the change they hope to achieve by telling the story of environmental harm through their photographic work.

The evening continued with the legal panel featuring our ED Kate Mackintosh, Reinhold Gallmetzer (ICC), Patricia Willocq (Stop Ecocide International) and Nicole Ann Ponce (World Youth for Climate Justice).

They discussed the opportunities and challenges of prosecuting environmental crimes and achieving justice. The ICC's mandate, the history and progress of the ecocide law movement and the practical pathways to environmental justice and accountability in times of conflict as well as times of peace, as explained in our Manual for Prosecuting International Environmental Crimes, were just a few of the topics they touched upon.

The Q and A session was heartfelt and insightful. It is always a pleasure to create space for conversations and connections that can move this work forward.
