Meet the Speakers: Kaeden Watts

𝗞𝗮𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘀 is an Indigenous rights advocate and policy expert from the 𝗔𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗭𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 tribes of Tūhoe, Ngāti Maniapoto, and Ngāti Tūwharetoa.

His areas of focus include integrating Indigenous knowledge into climate change responses, promoting environmental justice, and securing equitable health outcomes for Indigenous communities affected by climate crises.

He has spent much of his career understanding how to progress the rights of Indigenous Peoples in domestic, regional, and international climate change responses.

Kaeden has worked both at the grassroots level in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally as an 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 and member of the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.
