International Conference Ecocide, Human Rights & Environmental Justice

🌍 International Conference on Ecocide, Human Rights and Environmental Justice
📅 31 October 2025 | 🏛 Senate House, London

This one-day conference will introduce global perspectives on the crime of ecocide, and its relation to human rights and environmental justice, with voices from Ghana, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, as well as broader perspectives from Africa, Latin America and Small Island Developing States.

Discussions will address critical issues including anthropocentrism, corporate responsibility, sentencing, and mens rea.

Keynote speakers include Monica Lennon MSP, who introduced the Ecocide (Scotland) Bill in the Scottish Parliament in May 2025. The bill has strong cross-party support and positions Scotland to become one of the first jurisdictions in the world to criminalise ecocide.

Professionals, students, activists and scholars are invited to register and contribute to this urgent dialogue on advancing ecocide within national and international legal frameworks.

The conference is proudly co-organised with the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, School of advanced study, University of London.
